Weekend Update 10-20-19

Dear M100 Families,

Congratulations to the M100 for earning a Superior rating (1,1,1)  at UIL Marching Contest yesterday! Thank you to all students for your hard work throughout this season!  Thank you so much to our incredibly hard working parent volunteers and district truck and bus drivers. Thank you to my fellow staff members - couldn’t do this without you guys!  You’re the best!

We are finished with our competitive season but we still have some football games to attend!  Practices will be reduced to once a week after school starting this coming week - please watch the calendar on the website for future planning.

Saturday 10/26:  BHS to host 3A Area Marching Competition.

We will be hosting the 3A UIL Marching contest at Tiger Stadium on October 26th. This is a huge event and we are in need of many adult volunteers to make the day a success. We need adults to help with in a variety of roles. Students have already started signing up to help as well. This is an ALL DAY event and we will need people to sign up for coverage throughout the day. There are time slots that can accommodate almost any schedule. Please use the link below to sign up. We will have a meeting next Tuesday, October 22nd at 6:30pm at the High School to go over event details and we ask that anyone volunteering plan to attend if possible.

Students - If you play an instrument other than the instrument you’ve been using for marching band, please start bringing it to band class.  We will start to integrate concert music into our rehearsals this week!

(we will still play our competitive marching show for the next 2 games)

Please make sure your child is hydrating throughout the day at school (water and/or gatorade type drinks) and eating healthy meals so they are healthy and up to the challenge of marching band.  This is especially important on game and contest days.

Uniforms - Please do not take your uniform home without having been given permission by a director.  We have parent volunteers who launder the uniforms periodically. Uniforms must stay at the band hall - they are not to be taken home.  Thank you.

Uniform / Band Hall Cleanliness - We need to continue to improve on ALL students hanging up their uniform correctly upon returning to the band hall after a performance.  Uniforms need to be hung up neatly and kept outside of the bags to air out. Hang on the proper rack, not on lockers or elsewhere.

Keep your band hall clean of trash, food, drinks, and personal items.  Keep all horns in lockers and TAKE WATER BOTTLES HOME EVERYDAY - clean them out for your own health/hygiene!  Thank you to my fellow staff members, Drum Majors, Band Managers, and Section Leaders for helping to clean up the band hall after games/contests.  If everyone does their part we can keep a clean, healthy facility. Take pride in your school, uniform, and this organization. It is a privilege to be a part of the M100.

Thank you!
