Weekend Update 5-16-21

Dear M100 Family,

What an outstanding concert Friday night! All bands and student ensembles did a fantastic job and the closing festivities were fun for all! Students - PLEASE RETURN YOUR CONCERT UNIFORM TO THE BAND HALL ON MONDAY! (we will take them to the cleaners on Wednesday) We are quickly approaching the end of the year and still have a few major events to come - Leadership try-outs, Spring Football Game on the 27th and Awards Ceremony on the 28th , June Camp (6/1-6/4)(more info. In this update).

Monday, May 17 - SBMS Concert - 7pm in the BHS PAC. State Solo & Ensemble students recognized at BISD Board Meeting. Meet at Pittenger Center (400 N Wall St, Belton, TX) at 5:50pm. Parents welcome. Dress nicely please.


Tuesday, May 18 - M100 Section Leader auditions / Color Guard rehearsal 5-7pm.

Spring Football Game at Tiger Stadium - Thursday, May 27

BHS football will have a Spring game at Tiger Stadium on Thursday, May 27th starting at 7:00pm. They will play for 3 quarters, take a quick halftime, then play 2 more. Our band will sit in the stands and play some tunes to add some spirit to the game! This is on a voluntary basis but other spirit groups will be in attendance so we’d love a good showing too and it’s a great way to support to our Varsity Football team and start gearing up for the Fall season! Mr. Kwaku will have more information to come! Let’s Go Tigers!!!


JUNE 1-4 FUNDAMENTALS CAMP! 5-7pm

For all current and incoming members! Review marching fundamentals, playing, check out marching instruments, and parent meeting on the 4th at 7pm. Get geared up for Fall 2021!!!!!

PRE-PARTICIPATION PHYSICALS FOR MARCHING BAND

NEW INFORMATION FROM UIL REGARDING PHYSICALS FOR THOSE IN BAND FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.

This information provided now so you can plan ahead. Historically, these forms have not been due until the first day of summer band activity. You can turn them in to Mrs. Gill upon completion - early is good! Please see the band calendar for summer band dates.


2021-2022 Report Forms & Pre-Participation Physicals

(1) Pre-participation Physical Examination. Upon entering the first and third years of high school, a physical examination signed by a physician, a physician assistant licensed by a State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners, a registered nurse recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners or a Doctor of Chiropractic is required. Standardized Pre-Participation Physical Examination Forms, available from the UIL office and authorized by the UIL Medical Advisory Committee, are required.

For the 2021-22 school year: Any participant in athletics or marching band, who was in their first or third year of high school during the 2020-21 school year and did not complete a Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) for the 2020-21 school year, will be required to complete the Medical History Form as noted below, as well as a PPE prior to participation in any UIL practices, games, performances, or matches for the 2021-22 school year.

(5) Medical History Form. Each year prior to any practice or participation a UIL medical history form signed by both student and a parent or guardian is required. A medical history form shall accompany each physical examination and shall be signed by both student and a parent or guardian. EVERYONE NEEDS TO TURN IN THIS FORM, WHETHER THEY ARE REQUIRED TO GET A PHYSICAL OR NOT.

*Forms will be added to the band website when they become available.

Scan the QR code in the band hall / answer questions / bring a 4x6 picture of yourself and give it to Ella Pusey or Mrs. Gill ASAP! Thanks!

Drop down to “Parent/Student/Members”

Student Area Password is: your child’s student ID OR whatever personal password you have changed it to. If you can’t remember, email shannon.gill@bisd.net and I can reset the password back to your child’s school ID.


ZOOM MEETINGS FOR REMOTE LEARNERS

IF you do not attend school in person, you will need to log in to your band or colorguard classes daily through Zoom. Links in Schoology. Email your director if you need help.

1 instrument all year = $125

1 instrument all year + another instrument for one semester = $187.50
