Weekend Update 12-11-20

Dear M100 Family,

Hope you’ve had a great week! We are moving right along preparing for our Winter Concert on the 15th in Tiger Stadium at 6pm. Don’t miss it! (masks and social distancing required). Please see details in this update for this event. The students are practicing and submitting audition recordings - lots going on! Hard to believe we are wrapping up December here at BHS! It’s been a great semester so far! We will end strong! Please continue to wear your mask, wash hands, and social distance so we can continue to meet in person and make music!

MARCHING UNIFORMS

If you still have yours - BRING IT BACK! Please do not take them to be dry cleaned! They will be laundered by our volunteers but we need all uniforms back. Thanks!

TOY DRIVE

Instead of doing a Secret Santa type gift exchange amongst students, we would like to ask that any student who can, bring an unwrapped new toy and put it under our band hall Christmas tree to collect toys for children this year who may not get a nice Christmas due to the financial hardships COVID has caused for so many families. Toy drive has already started and will run until the 18th. Our band boosters will collect the toys and donate them to this charity. Thank you for your generosity this Christmas season!

WIND ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS STARTING 2ND SEMESTER

Just a reminder that those students who make Wind Ensemble (our most advanced ensemble) will need to report to school by 8am starting on January 25th, 2021. Our class would then run from 8am-9:30am. This has been mentioned in class for many months now. Parents - please let me know if transportation will be an issue for your family. Our current class period is only 45 minutes and this is in no way enough time for us to prepare the level of music that is appropriate and challenging for this varsity level group. As with other varsity level activities, it is instructionally appropriate that we start early so we can get the same amount of instructional time (90 minutes) as other varsity 6A level groups. Thank you.

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO TAKE THEIR INSTRUMENT HOME WITH THEM ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!!! (Percussion-talk to Mr. Smith if you want to check out an instrument for the break. Sousaphones will not go home with students - you should have a home tuba. Let a director know if you don’t please. Thanks!)(Guard - talk to Mr. H)
