Weekend Update 3-27-22

Dear M100 Family,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! It’s been a fantastic weekend for our Varsity ColorGuard! Their performance at the TCGC State Championships was absolutely beautiful and they placed 8th place overall! Congratulations to the Varsity and JV Guards for an outstanding season! See some pictures below.


Congratulations to Senior Ethan Rasmussen for being accepted into the College of Music at the University of North Texas!


**If your child receives an award, gets accepted into college, or earns another other sort of distinction, let us know! We are proud and happy to highlight all the great things about our students!


PRE-UIL CONCERT THURSDAY, MARCH 31 - MANDATORY FOR ALL BAND STUDENTS


Uniform - Concert Tux and pants, white tux shirt, bow tie, long black socks, nice dress black shoes, Concert dress, closed-toe black dress shoes, minimal jewelry.

*Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony will take uniforms home Wednesday 3/30. Symphonic and Concert Band need to stay after school or come back by 5:30pm to change. They won’t take uniforms home the night before.

ALL STUDENTS WILL BRING UNIFORMS BACK ON FRIDAY APRIL 1ST.


We will have two judges in the auditorium.

Parents and friends are welcome.


ITINERARY:

Symphonic / Concert Band: 6pm warm-up on stage / 6:30pm perform

Wind Symphony: 6:15pm warm-up in band hall / 6:50pm perform

Wind Ensemble: 6:45pm warm-up in band hall / 7:20pm perform


*Students do not have to stay for all the concerts, however, they SHOULD NOT return to the band hall while a band is warming up there. Only Tubas may enter the band hall to put away their instruments. Everyone else - take your instrument home.


Wind Ensemble - Tear down and return percussion equipment and stands to band hall


UIL CONCERT AND SIGHTREADING CONTEST IS APRIL 20th and 21st.

*Each band will perform on only one day. More details as we get them.


AUDITIONS FOR NEXT YEAR’S BANDS - APRIL 25-28

We will have auditions for all current 8th-11th graders April 25-28 after school. Music will be available to all this Wednesday, March 30th. These auditions will determine band placements (scheduling) for the 2022-2023 school year.


SENIORS NEWS

STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AT MONDAY, 3/28 BOARD MEETING

We are excited to recognize the band solo/ensemble state qualifiers at the board meeting on Monday, March 28! Please invite these students to be recognized that evening. We ask that this group arrive at the Pittenger Fine Arts Center by 4:40 p.m. for the 5:00 p.m. start of the board meeting. NOTE: There is no workshop so the regular meeting has been moved to 5:00 p.m. instead of 6:15. Students - please dress to impress - there will be pictures taken! Parents are welcome as well.



SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Altrusa Scholarship. Any student who is or will be attending a college or vocational school in the state of Texas can apply. There are ten, $2,000 scholarships that will be awarded. Go online to altrusatemple.org and fill out ALL of the information. ALL information has to be submitted or the application will not be considered. The deadline is March 31.



Music Club of Temple

Scholarship Competition

The Music Club of Temple is pleased to announce the 2022 adjudicated Scholarship Competition & Senior Awards Recital.

This year’s competition will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at 4 o’clock in the afternoon, at the Cultural Activities Center, Saulsbury Room, Temple. The Music Club holds this recital each spring to honor high school senior music students.

Entrance applications are attached and may be reproduced as needed. Applications must be received by April 10, 2022. Applications may be sent to the address below. Applications may also be obtained and returned via email at the email address below.

The following scholarships are available:

Nora Lee Wendland Scholarship, $1,000

Durward B. Howard Scholarship, $500

Ann Chamlee Scholarship, $500

Roy Finney Scholarship, $500

Please encourage your senior music students to participate. The attached participant criteria and competition rules are provided to assist your students in preparing for the recital. Please feel free to call, email or text me if you need any further information.

BHS BANDS ENSEMBLE DINNER CONCERT REFUNDS:

If you still need to - please notify cassie.fothergill@gmail.com of your choice for ensemble dinner refund. You can request a full refund, donate your payment to the booster account, or apply your money to your student's Charms account.


CHARMS FINANCIAL REPORTS

If you receive a financial statement from Charms which seems to communicate that you owe money to the band boosters and you feel you’ve been emailed in error, please contact Steven Bower, our Booster Treasurer - m100boosters.treasurer@gmail.com.

These 2 amazing directors contributed so much to the Belton ISD Band program and mentored countless young teachers.

Each student in a BHS band will have a sectional outside of the school day once a week this semester. These sectionals will be updated on our band calendar. Please contact your child’s director with any questions. Winter Guard rehearsals are also posted on our band calendar.
