Weekend Update 9-27-20

Dear M100 Family,

FANTASTIC game Friday night!  Thank you to all parent volunteers who helped with chaperone duties, Kettle Corn sales,  and to our incredible students who brought their awesome spirit and great sounds to make the game so much fun!  You guys did a great job in the “stands” and performed really well with a big sound at halftime!  We had an exciting run of the show and I will share the video with you as soon as possible.  Great 1st run of our show!  Keep it up - more fun to come as we continue to add to / learn the rest of the show!   Please continue to engage in masking and distancing practices so that we can all stay healthy and continue to work with one another in person!

Si necesita hablar con alguien en español, envíeme un correo electrónico a jbiggs0106@yahoo.com.  (Jasmine Biggs)

FULL UNIFORM FOR NEXT GAME

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we should be in full uniform for our next football game on October 23rd.  We will send more details well in advance of that performance.  PLEASE make sure your child has been fitted for a uniform (we started the fittings during the first week of September) and re-fitted if their uniform has been altered or if we’ve ordered one for them.  Please contact our uniform coordinator, Cassie Fothergill at cassie.fothergill@gmail.com if you have ANY uniform needs.  Please contact her well before the next game so that she can help you especially if we have to order a uniform piece or get it altered.  Sometimes orders take a long time to get in so we need to know your needs well in advance.  Thank you!!!

IF YOU STILL NEED MARCHING SHOES - they are sold at local department store - Cochran, Blair, and Potts.  Please contact them and ask about Belton HS Band marching shoes.

LONG HAIR - WHAT TO DO FOR GAMES

Look at the pictures attached.  This is a great example of how to wear your hair for the games!  Model - Faith Rodriguez, Hair by Madison Limbrick :-)

EATING BEFORE GAMES

Students - you MUST eat before football games.  DO NOT think you will be ok to eat at, let’s say, noon and then not again until 11 or so pm when you get home from the game!  You will be wiped out and not have the proper energy to last throughout the game!  We fed about 3-4 students Friday night who did not order a meal because they said they had not eaten.  IF you can’t get home and can’t get to any food, LET OUR BOOSTERS KNOW so we can order food for you and you can eat at BHS before the game.  This last meal was $8.  Mrs. Cobb will send another email before the next game to get orders.  Please sign up.

Having said this, there were at least 4-5 students who ordered and didn’t come pick up their meal.  I sent a Remind out that the food was in my office.  I saw at least one student who ate his own food in the band hall when he had ordered a meal!  Please do not do this as our boosters have already purchased the food.  If you order from boosters, please eat the food they bought you - you are paying for it anyway!

You will see a charge in your Charms account miscellaneous ledger.  YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY IN CHARMS!  Bring cash or check to me (Mrs. Gill) and I’ll put it in the safe.

NO EATING IN UNIFORM DURING THE GAME.  ONLY WATER ALLOWED. (if your child must eat during the game due to medical reasons, please let us know.)

OCTOBER 5 - SCENARIO 3

On October 5, Belton ISD will move to Scenario 3 of our COVID-19 Response Plan.

In Scenario 3, all grade levels of At-School learners will attend class in person Monday-Friday with a one hour early dismissal on most Wednesdays. Some other things to note:

  • The district calendar has been updated to reflect the early dismissal on most Wednesdays. You can access an updated version on our district website here.

  • Masks will still be required for all students and staff while in Scenario 3. Other prevention and mitigation strategies, including enhanced cleaning and disinfecting, will also continue.

  • For secondary students: Block schedules will continue all year, regardless of our scenario. The A/B days are intended to lessen the number of transitions throughout the day.

  • At-Home Learning remains a learning environment option for families.

INSTRUMENT RENTAL FEES

If you are using a school owned instrument (including percussion), you will be assessed an instrument rental fee of $62.50 per instrument per semester.  We will ask for payment of these fees during the second week of school (Sept. 14th).  Payments will be delivered to Mrs. Gill and not paid through Charms.  Payments only in the form of cash (in an envelope with student’s name on it) or check made out to Belton HS Band.  Payments are deposited into an account to be used for repair and general maintenance on instruments.  Students should have received a form indicating the amount they owe in class or by email.  If you have questions about how much you owe - please email shannon.gill@bisd.net.

FEES:

1 instrument all year = $125

1 instrument all year + another instrument for one semester = $187.50

1 instrument for one semester only = $62.50

M100 INSTRUMENTAL PRIVATE LESSON SCHOLARSHIPS!

As a result of your fundraising efforts and generous donations, the BHS Band Boosters are excited to be able to offer private lesson scholarships to our woodwind, brass, and percussion students!

The Belton High School Band Private Lesson Scholarship program is designed to help students offset the financial impact of private lesson study.  If awarded, the scholarship will cover half of the student’s weekly private lesson fee.  The student financial responsibility will be reduced 50% per lesson.  The student portion of payment should be paid directly to the private lesson teacher at the beginning of each month or whenever the lesson teacher has requested payment be made.

For access to the Lesson Scholarship Application - please go here:  https://www.beltonmarching100.com

You can also find contact information for our Private Lesson Teachers here:  https://www.beltonmarching100.com/private-lesson-instructors

ALL PRIVATE LESSONS WILL BE CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Parents need to contact lesson teachers directly to set up private lessons.

Lessons are STRONGLY encouraged for musical advancement but ESPECIALLY this year when the amount of time we the directors will spend with students will be greatly reduced (especially in the hybrid model).  Thank you!

*Online form is not fillable (sorry-I don’t have Adobe).  I will have paper copies in the band hall if you need.  Return forms to Mrs. Gill (or email to shannon.gill@bisd.net)
