Weekend Update 8-8-21

Dear M100 Family,


Another Fantastic week of summer band! The students and staff are working hard and making great progress! We will be thrilled to show you what we’ve accomplished on Friday at the Parent Preview (6:30pm - Tiger Field). Thanks to all students and staff for a terrific performance at the “Best in TX. Showcase” on Thursday for the teachers! Lots of compliments!

Thank you to the tireless work our parent volunteers are doing with uniforms and props!


FORMS FOR BAND

  • NEW FORM - just received the 2021 BISD Drug Consent Form this past Friday. All parents and students must sign this form. DUE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 11, 2021. Here is the form:

AUGUST BAND BOOSTER MEETING - ALL ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND - GET INVOLVED!


Date: Monday, Aug. 9, 2021

Time: 7pm - General Meeting (6pm - Executive Board)

Place: BHS Commons (cafeteria)

All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the first booster club meeting of the year! The agenda will include: football season events, the yearly budget and fundraising plan, and chaperone information and training. PLEASE ATTEND! WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE THIS MACHINE RUN SMOOTHLY AND GUARANTEE AN EXCEPTIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CHILD! We especially need more help in the near future with PROP PREPARATIONS! IT’S FUN AND MORE HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK - THANK YOU AHEAD OF TIME!


BHS BAND LETTER JACKETS


SSR - the Letter Jacket company we are using - will be coming by the band hall tomorrow to pick up completed forms. The representative will bring order forms (they were left out of some of the packets accidentally) and will make arrangements to come back to pick up those completed forms later in the week. SO - if you need an order form, see Mrs. Gill at some point tomorrow. Please return them by Friday, Aug. 13th. Thanks!


M100 BAND JERSEYS


Students who ordered the band jersey at or before Everything Day will receive them during indoor rehearsals this week. If you need to purchase one ($35), email cassie.fothergill@gmail.com. We have lots in stock.

Do Not report to the band hall until 12:45pm - directors in professional development off campus this morning. Band Hall locked until 12:30pm.

12:45pm – 4:00pm, Inside Rehearsals

4pm-5pm - Break

5pm - 8pm - Full Ensemble Rehearsal Outside

August 13– CONVOCATION AT BHS / Parent Preview Performance

Instruments, WATER, sunscreen, hats, tennis shoes, M100 Jersey, music, flip folders, lyres (if applicable) needed. Colorguard - ask Mr H. for your uniform requirements for this day.

9:00am – 11:00am - Convocation- inside. Report to Band Hall at 9am. Front Ensemble members need not attend Convocation unless you wish to play a cymbal part. Consult with Mr. Smith.

UNIFORM - M100 JERSEY, BLACK SHORTS, TENNIS SHOES

5:00pm - Pre-Performance rehearsal in Tiger Stadium. M100 Jersey, black shorts, tennis shoes.

6:30pm - Parent Preview Performance in Tiger Stadium.

Finished at approximately 7:30pm then you’ll move to the parking lot practice field for a surprise! Ask parents to pick you up at around 8-8:30pm (and bring a towel! ;-) in the parking lot practice field between Sparta and BMs.

August 14 - Meet the Tigers

Uniform - Red M100 T-shirts, Black Shorts, Tennis Shoes.

You’ll Need - Instrument, Music, Water.

6pm - Report to the Band Hall.

7pm - Event starts (pep rally type event in Tiger Stadium introducing all Sports / Band /Cheer / Belles, etc.)

8pm - Approximate end time. Parents can pick up at the stadium or at the band hall.

8pm - approximate end time. You can be picked up from Tiger stadium OR Band Hall if you need to return your instrument.

INFORMATION FROM UIL REGARDING PHYSICALS FOR THOSE IN BAND FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.

2021-2022 Report Forms & Pre-Participation Physicals

(1) Pre-participation Physical Examination. Upon entering the first and third years of high school, a physical examination signed by a physician, a physician assistant licensed by a State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners, a registered nurse recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners or a Doctor of Chiropractic is required. Standardized Pre-Participation Physical Examination Forms, available from the UIL office and authorized by the UIL Medical Advisory Committee, are required.

For the 2021-22 school year: Any participant in athletics or marching band, who was in their first or third year of high school during the 2020-21 school year and did not complete a Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) for the 2020-21 school year, will be required to complete the Medical History Form as noted below, as well as a PPE prior to participation in any UIL practices, games, performances, or matches for the 2021-22 school year.

(5) Medical History Form. Each year prior to any practice or participation a UIL medical history form signed by both student and a parent or guardian is required. A medical history form shall accompany each physical examination and shall be signed by both student and a parent or guardian. EVERYONE NEEDS TO TURN IN THIS FORM, WHETHER THEY ARE REQUIRED TO GET A PHYSICAL OR NOT.
