Dear M100 Family,
Hope this email finds you and your family well and safe! We’ve had an excellent week with leadership, new members, battery percussion, and colorguard! We’re off to a great start! Please continue to engage in safe and distancing practices so that we can all stay healthy and continue to work with one another in person!
WW/BRASS SUMMER MASTERCLASSES
We are excited to offer Zoom masterclasses this summer in addition to our regular summer band schedule. For your safety and convenience, you can log in from home for these instrument-specific sessions - no charge to students! (these sessions should NOT replace your regular private lessons if you are taking them). Sessions are being updated daily. TUES. & THURS. FROM 8AM-12:30PM: SYMPHONIC BAND & CONCERT BAND + PERCUSSION + GROUP B COLORGUARD (+ GROUP A GUARD ON FRI. FROM 8AM-NOON)
****We are splitting up the band for safer distancing in rehearsals****
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING AND WEAR YOUR MASKS WHENEVER THERE IS NOT AN INSTRUMENT ON YOUR LIPS :-). THANK YOU!
Students who ordered water jugs and flip folders will get them in sectionals this week. Jerseys are not in yet.

What to Bring:

(you can bring a backpack to keep your supplies in - flip folder, pencil, etc. if you’d like.) No lockers will be assigned.
SOME RECENT QUESTIONS WE ARE RECEIVING:
If I choose virtual learning for my child the 1st 9 weeks, what does that look like for band?
The directors will do their best to provide meaningful video lessons and assignments that coincide with the curriculum we are using. We will do a variety of pre-recorded lessons and zoom sessions depending on which daily schedule the district will adopt and how we will operate within that schedule.

Can my child still participate in band after school if he/she is staying home during the day for virtual learning?
YES! We will most likely have after school rehearsals at similar times as last year (4:30pm-6:30pm or 5pm-7pm daily) depending on which schedule we will adopt for the start of school. Awaiting district directives. Please see the following from the UIL website which is also in line with our district directives:
Remote Learning
Students participating in remote learning offered by their school district, whether synchronous or asynchronous (as defined by TEA), may participate in UIL activities if they meet all other UIL eligibility requirements. Students must be enrolled in remote learning options through the school the student will represent. Schools may develop local policies with additional requirements for participation. You can find more information related to the full-time student rule in Section 406 UIL Constitution and Contest Rules
