By now you’ve probably heard of the announcement made by Governor Abbott and received communication from our district sharing that all Texas school buildings will remain closed for the rest of the school year. We will continue to proceed with extended learning and please continue to check your email and the BHS Band Calendar on our website for updates.
Some of you have asked about getting into the school to get items from your lockers – I will let you know as soon as I hear how we will handle that from Administration. Us band directors are not allowed in the building at this time.
Although this is a truly challenging time, we will get through it and look forward to awesome 2020-2021!
New Assistant Band Director for 2020-2021: Christopher Kreger.

DRUM MAJOR CANDIDATE WORKSHOP:
We will host a virtual workshop for Drum Major candidates this coming Thursday, April 23rd. at 1:00pm. We will be using Zoom for this meeting. The meeting ID and Password will be emailed to candidates on the 22nd.
PLEASE ONLY LOG ON TO THIS MEETING IF YOU ARE AUDITIONING FOR DRUM MAJOR.
INVENTORY CHECK:
If you have a school owned instrument at home with your right now (or piece of guard equipment), we will need to get information from you by this coming Friday, April 24th. Here’s what we need you to do:
If you have a school-owned woodwind or brass instrument – take a picture of the instrument with the serial number clearly (as clearly as you can) showing in the photo AND take a picture of the case so that we can clearly see the serial number in the photo. 2 separate pictures – horn not in case. Horn fully assembled. Email the pictures to the following director:
Woodwinds to Mrs. Gill – Shannon.gill@bisd.net
Brass to Mr. Kwaku – kevin.kwaku@bisd.net
Percussion – Mr. Smith – Ian.smith@bisd.net
Colorguard – take a picture of any school-owned item you have at your home and email it to Mr. Hudnall – cody.hudnall@bisd.net
Please email the appropriate director if you have any trouble such as not being able to find the serial number. (it is tough on tubas – often on the valve in a hard to see spot or on the lead pipe)
We will allow you to hold on to the horn over the summer but we must know who has what exactly.
Seniors – email Mrs. Gill right away if you have a school-owned inst. at home. We are waiting to hear from our district how we will go about getting those back from you.
Marching Baritones and Mellophones – I’ve distributed those in the past before the semester was out so you could have them over the summer to practice. Again – will have to wait to find out how we will arrange for those to be picked up in the future. More information to come.
