Weekend Update 2-27-21

Updated: Feb 28, 2022

Dear M100 Family,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! We’ve had an interesting week and despite the missed days of school and rehearsals, our students represented themselves and BHS very well this weekend at competitions!

Congratulations to our Winter Guard! The JV and Varsity Guards competed yesterday in Georgetown at the TCGC Contest. JV came in 5th and Varsity 4th in their respective categories. Excellent work! Best of luck to our Varsity Guard who will compete in the WGI contest this coming Saturday, March 5th in Austin!!

Congratulations to all those who participated in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest we hosted at BHS on Saturday! We had many Superior (highest rating) rated performances and Excellent (2nd highest) rated performances. Those students who earned a rating of a “1” (Superior) on a class 1 solo or ensemble will receive a Gold medal, a 1 on a class 2 solo or ensemble will receive a silver medal, and a 1 on a class 3 solo or ensemble will receive a bronze medal. We will hand out medals and judge sheets tomorrow and Tuesday in classes. Students who preformed a class 1 solo from memory and received a rating of a 1 on it, qualify for State (over Memorial Day weekend in May) AND those who performed on a class 1 Ensemble and received a rating of a 1 on the ensemble qualify to perform that ensemble at State as well! We will have a full list medal recipients and state qualifiers to share this week.

A special THANK YOU to all who helped us run the contest! Everything ran really smoothly and we’ve been asked to do it again next year!

THANK YOU to: Mrs. Fothergill, Mr. and Mrs. Bechtel, Mr. Bower, Mrs. Little, and Mrs. Olson! (hope I'm not forgetting anyone!)

THANKS TO STUDENT VOLUNTEERS!!!: Julio Llompart., Kyan Pulley., Thaddeus Henderson., Daniel Fuller, Emily Lanham, Scarlett Finch, Cole Vance, Jodi Mangall, Josh and Abigail Levant, Sean Sisneros, Alex Bruce, Mallory Larson, Brennan Lanham, Caitlyn Stearns, Zoe Goebel, Michael Summers, Alyssa Vahrenkamp, Sam Fothergill, Tim McCormick, Colby Franklin, Riley Young, Paige Aguillion, Zach Linklater, Faith Rodriguez, and Kacy Olson.

Last but not least - Thank you to my wonderful fellow directors for your tireless work and dedication!

The Region 8 Executive who was on hand to oversee the contest was so very complimentary of everyone involved! Thank you guys so much! Couldn’t have done it without you!

Finally - we wish the best for our 4 Senior M100 members who auditioned at UNT just yesterday! Ethan Rasmussen, Ezekiel Trahan, Matthew Fulford, and Angel Rios-Torres.

Let us know when you get accepted! They all auditioned for the music school at UNT!!!

DO YOU STILL OWE FOR PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT?!?!?!

PLEASE bring your check or cash to Mrs.Gill ASAP! You have already received the service from the pianist and the boosters paid them. We need you to pay so the boosters are not out that money! If you need financial help, please email shannon.gill@bisd.net.

I will be sending out an email to those who still owe this week. Thank you.

BHS BANDS ENSEMBLE DINNER CONCERT

We have attempted to reschedule this event but are running into countless conflicts. We are seeking other opportunities for our students to share their ensembles with the public and showcase what they have been working on in their small and large groups. We will inform everyone once we have found a way to do this! Thank you.
