Weekend Update 2-21-21

Dear M100 Family,

Well...it’s really hard to put into words how I feel about this past week. I won’t take your time with my opinions but the most important thing I want to share is that I truly hope and pray that you and your family are safe, warm, and that your home is intact and you were able to make it through this past week without issue. If you had needs, I hope they were met. Having said this, we the band, have several cases of left over bottled water in the band hall and our fabulous Band Boosters will volunteer their time to hand out to families in need TODAY AT 1:00-2:30 OR UNTIL WE RUN OUT OF WATER.

Pick up in the front of the school in front of the Fine Arts doors. Please stay in your car and someone will put the case of water in your car for you (like curbside pick up at the grocery store). Please share this info. with anyone who might need water today! It’s the least we can do to help out in our community! Thank you M100 Band Boosters!

*CONCERNING THIS WEEK - we know as much as you do. Will let you know if we have to make any changes regarding rehearsals/clinicians/solo & ensemble contest, etc. We don’t know when we will return to normal in-school instruction (hopefully soon) so please watch your email and Remind as we wait for information to come. Thank you.

NEW INFORMATION FROM UIL REGARDING PHYSICALS FOR THOSE IN BAND FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR.

This information provided now so you can plan ahead. Historically, these forms have not been due until the first day of summer band activity. Please see the band calendar for summer band dates.

2021-2022 Report Forms & Pre-Participation Physicals

(1) Pre-participation Physical Examination. Upon entering the first and third years of high school, a physical examination signed by a physician, a physician assistant licensed by a State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners, a registered nurse recognized as an advanced practice nurse by the Board of Nurse Examiners or a Doctor of Chiropractic is required. Standardized Pre-Participation Physical Examination Forms, available from the UIL office and authorized by the UIL Medical Advisory Committee, are required.

For the 2021-22 school year: Any participant in athletics or marching band, who was in their first or third year of high school during the 2020-21 school year and did not complete a Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) for the 2020-21 school year, will be required to complete the Medical History Form as noted below, as well as a PPE prior to participation in any UIL practices, games, performances, or matches for the 2021-22 school year.

(5) Medical History Form. Each year prior to any practice or participation a UIL medical history form signed by both student and a parent or guardian is required. A medical history form shall accompany each physical examination and shall be signed by both student and a parent or guardian. EVERYONE NEEDS TO TURN IN THIS FORM, WHETHER THEY ARE REQUIRED TO GET A PHYSICAL OR NOT.

SENIOR RECOGNITION BOARD:

A message from your Drum Major - Ella Pusey:

Hey seniors! As we are making our plans for the future, Mrs. Gill has asked me to create a board to recognize our seniors and their future plans in the band hall. This can include acceptance into college, tech school, military service, or whatever your future plans may hold. If you'd like to please fill out the survey questions from this QR code and bring me (Ella) a 4x6 picture of you to be displayed on the board. This is completely optional but it would be really cool if you did it!

FUTURE PLANNING - SUMMER BAND 2021

PLEASE DO NOT PLAN ANYTHING THAT WILL CAUSE YOUR CHILD TO MISS SUMMER BAND DURING THESE DATES:

July 26 - 27: Most likely will be M100 LEADERSHIP SESSIONS (including ColorGuard)

July 28 - start of school in August: Summer Band for all Members (including ColorGuard)

ColorGuard and Percussion usually hold a camp during the week of July 19-23

*Confirmed dates will be posted on our band website soon. Tentative dates are there now, however, unless something changes, you can count on Summer Band during these times.

Thank you!
