Weekend Update 1-19-21

Updated: Jan 24, 2021

Dear M100 Family,

Hope everyone had a wonderful three day weekend! Sorry this is late - I was out of town with no internet service. Congratulations to all who auditioned in the All State Band process. Our students did very well against difficult competitors from the suburbs of Austin all the way to the Dallas area. Just a few announcements - please read below.

Si necesita hablar con alguien en español, envíeme un correo electrónico a jbiggs0106@yahoo.com. (Jasmine Biggs)

COVID PRE-SCREENING DAILY

All parents are required to screen their children everyday before sending them to school for any reason. Please notify our campus nurse if your child cannot attend school due to symptoms or exposure to a positive or presumed positive case of COVID-19. Please do not send students if they have been experiencing any of the symptoms in this document:

FUTURE PLANNING - SUMMER 2021

Assuming everything is somewhat “normal” by July (I know - pretty dangerous thing to do!), I wanted to share with you all some approximate dates to plan for as we are thinking ahead to Summer Band 2021! PLEASE DO NOT PLAN ANYTHING THAT WILL CAUSE YOUR CHILD TO MISS SUMMER BAND DURING THESE DATES:

July 26 - 27: Most likely will be M100 Leadership sessions (including ColorGuard)

July 28 - start of school in August: Summer Band for all Members (including ColorGuard)

ColorGuard and Percussion usually hold a camp during the week of July 19-23

*Confirmed dates will be posted on our band website soon. Tentative dates are there now, however, unless something changes, you can count on Summer Band during these times.

Thank you!

WIND ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS STARTING 2ND SEMESTER

Just a reminder that those students who make Wind Ensemble (our most advanced ensemble) will need to report to school by 8am starting on January 25th, 2021. Our class will run from 8am-9:30am. This has been mentioned in class for many months now. Parents - please let me know if transportation will be an issue for your family.

BAND SECTIONALS FOR ALL BANDS

Sectionals for Wind Ensemble will start on Jan. 25th and for the other bands - Feb. 1.

Sectionals are mandatory for all students. These are specialized, typically outside of class, rehearsals we will have for students in like-instrument groups concentrating on our UIL contest music. They are absolutely essential for our band’s success at UIL competition. Thank you for supporting your children’s musical education here at BHS.
