Dear M100 Family,
I hope everyone has been enjoying the first few weeks of summer! It has been pretty hot, so please take the appropriate precautions when going outside. Hydrate hydrate hydrate! Since are two weeks away from the Fourth of July Rehearsal and Parade, I am sending out an update to keep everyone in the loop with what to expect in the coming weeks. Here is your Summer Update!
MONDAY, JULY 3RD - PARADE REHEARSAL
ALL STUDENTS (except for Front Ensemble percussion), INCLUDING INCOMING 8TH GRADERS, WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE FOURTH OF JULY PARADE! If you have a conflict with July 3rd or 4th, please click HERE to fill out the google form to inform us. We completely understand if you have a conflict, we just need to know so that we have an idea how many students we can expect per section.
Attire: Comfortable clothes for outdoor rehearsal, tennis shoes
What to Bring: Instrument, flip folder, large water bottle, sunscreen, hats/sweatbands/sunglasses
8:15am - Band Hall Opens
9:00am - Rehearsal Begins
10:00am - winds/percussion transition to practice field
10:15am - parade rehearsal
12:00pm - rehearsal ends
Students should be drinking lots of water before and after the practice, as well as before and after the parade. It is also important that students eat a balanced breakfast before reporting each day. If possible, students should spend some time outside in the days prior to the parade to help with heat acclimation.
TUESDAY, JULY 4TH - PARADE PERFORMANCE
Attire: Red M100 T-Shirt (provided at 7/3 rehearsal), solid black athletic shorts, tennis shoes
What to Bring: Instrument (no cases), flip folder, sunscreen, patriotic decorations for yourself/your instrument

7:15am - arrive at Pearl Street at UMHB
7:30am - warmup
8:00am - judging portion of parade begins
9:00am - parade begins
10:00am - approx. parade end time

7/17-7/20 COLOR GUARD/PERCUSSION CAMP
Color Guard and Percussion Students - The Guard/Percussion camp will be held from Monday, July 17th to Thursday, July 20th, 9am-4pm. Lunch will be from 12pm-1pm. You may either bring your own lunch or bring money for a nearby restaurant, but you must be on time for the 1pm block! 7/25-7/28 FIRST WEEK OF SUMMER BAND!!!
Our first day with the full M100 will be Tuesday, July 25th! We will meet in the band hall on Tuesday at 8:30am and begin learning the M100 marching technique, as well as the music to our 2023 marching production, “Thunderbolt and Lightning!” an electricity themed show featuring the music of Queen, Rossini, Elton John, AC/DC and John Mackey! The itinerary for the first week is listed below!

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO
All wind and percussion students will need to have a “Foundations for Super Performance” book, also known as the “blue book” for their respective instrument next school year. We will use this book for our fundamentals in addition to our “Belton High School Fundamentals” packet.
Students in Jazz Band - Make sure you are practicing your jazz All-Region audition music! The auditions will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Temple HS. Click HERE to access the google folder with the music and improv tracks.
Everything Day will be held on Saturday, July 29th in the band hall. This will be the day for families to purchase the required equipment for next season, as well as verifying student information and completing the necessary paperwork for the M100.
